Glen McNeil's Best Bets – Thursday, July 10
𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝘁 - 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝟭 - #𝟮 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘆 - We kick things off in the Thursday opener with my first best bet of the day—a class dropper coming out of the Open ranks after finishing third in a sharp 1:49.1. He looks just a touch quicker than #1 Price Control, who figures to either set the pace or sit a dangerous pocket trip from the rail.
𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 - 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝟯 - #𝟰 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼 - Has raced well in all starts at the Ridge this year and offers value at a solid 6-1 morning line. Might be a step slower on paper compared to this field, but with the right trip, he can absolutely contend. Trainer Shane Tritton is winning at a sharp 36% clip this year at Plainridge.
𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝘁 - 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝟱 - #𝟱 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗕𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡 - Has been solid at the Ridge this season and is coming off a strong second-place finish. I think gets the jump on Swedish Starlet N this week— who’s always razor sharp and tough to beat. This sets up to be a great edition of the $25,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap.
𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 - 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝟕 - #𝟑 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐲 - Draws better this week and hasn’t shown much early speed lately—but I think that changes today. Brett Beckwith has been aggressive all week, sending horses right to the front, and I expect the same here as he looks to go the distance. Trainer Melissa Beckwith already posted two wins on Monday’s card.
